We regenerate bikes to empower people, strengthen communities and accelerate sustainability.
A bike is more than just two wheels—it is a lifeline. We see it in Liberato, an immigrant in 1961 who found safety and a living through his first English purchase. We see it in Clare, who used her bike to reclaim the independence a brain tumour tried to steal. And we feel it in Antonio, who navigates grief one pedal stroke at a time.
Whether it’s escaping hardship, reclaiming health, or finding the mental space to support those we love, we believe everyone deserves the freedom that a well-running bike provides.
We liberate bikes from landfill and gratefully receive bikes that members of the public may no longer need.
We give each bike the TLC it needs before gifting it to those living on low incomes who
need it.
Beneficiaries claim a bike. Our ask - tell us how it will help and agree to complete our survey after receiving it.
Understanding that the bikes are often their sole mode of transport, we deliver them to beneficiaries.
"If I diagnose cancer and refer them for treatment, the Oncologist's first question is 'what type of cancer?' The second question is 'how fit are they?' Staying mentally and physically strong enough to cope with treatment is vital. That's one of the reasons why TLC is such an important initiative."
Dr Alexander Wilkinson, Respiratory Consultant
"[This Top Lad] has Perthes Disease which is a rare childhood disorder that results in bone damage and misshapen hip joints. Cycling is a highly recommended activity for him and he needed a bike. Thank you to the team @liberationcycle for this very happy little boy who I quote 'has got the BEST bike ever!!!"
A Happy Beneficiary
"'R' didn't have any means of transport. His fully serviced bike, given to him by THE LIBERATION CYCLE helped him to get from a to b around Cambridge (a very bike-heavy place!), and improved his independence.
It has make such a difference to his life."
